PALMEESTON N., July 13.

William Henry Pollock (53) pleaded guilty today to charges of stealing £561 from a timber company which employed him as secretary. He was committed to the Supremo Court for sentence.

In a statement to tho police Pollock said that after coming from Wellington he had to abandon .a house he had been buying there. He lost his eqliity, about £600. In Auckland he found himself in difficulties, and after March, 1931, took small sums, most of which he gambled away. His position got gradually worse, and he began betting in bigger sums, but only got more deeply involved: •
