KNITTING COMPETITION
In connection with the Smith Family's knitting competition, the closing date has been fixed for Saturday, August .5..., The prize list has been amended by the provision ot' a second prize in each section. The prizes now are:—For the beet knitted jumper suitable for a boy between the ages of C and 12, a first prize of two guineas and a second prize of one guinea. Similar prizes are offered for the best knitted jumper for girls between tile ages of 6 and 12. In the children's section prizes of 10s Od and 5s are offered for the best baby's singlet or' pilehers.- Coiiipetitors are required to supply their own wool, and the garments knitted, will become tlie property of. the Smith Family, for distribution to needy families in and around Wellington. , ■■ .. , .-,'■.-.' , There appears to be some misunderstanding regarding the free issue of wool by the Family. Wool-is.supplied free to those who are-prepared.to knit garments'-for distribution to needy families, but for various reasons -it is not deemed advisable to supply wool to people'for-their own'■use. At present over 200 women are knitting garments with Smith Family wool, and applications have been received !for wool from all'parts of the Dominion. --:
