NOT UNANIMOUS

SOME MEN RETURN TO WORK

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NAPIER, This Day. Approximately 500 relief workers were on strike today. At a meeting held this morning it was decided to leave a settlement of the dispute in the hands of the Provincial Council of Unemployed. Orderly meetings were held, the unemployed generally maintaining a sensible attitude. The decision to strike is not unanimous, for 230 men returned to work on various jobs this morning. An appeal was made by the Mayor for a passive attitude to be maintained, and a special meeting of retailers expressed confidence that the relief workers would, do so.
