HATAITAI CLUB

The annual meeting of the Hataitai Bowling Club, held last night, was largely attended, there being about sixty present. Mr. H. L. Brighting presided. The president congratulated the' club upon having a full membership and a balance of £39. The green had been closed earlier than usual last season, but members would reap the benefit next season, as the grass was growing splendidly. .■...'■■ A vote of thanks was accorded to Mr. J. Kershaw lor his services, to the club and, to bowlers generally. On the motion of the chairman, it was decided, after some discussion, that the subscription remain the same. . ' The committee recommended the appointment of a selection committee instead of a sole selector, but an amendment to appoint a sole selector was finally carried. There were three nominations for the position, and Mr. W. As. Wellings was elected. Messrs. H. Watts, H. Moston, and J. W. Taylor were elected as the match committee. In connection with the centre competitions, the president said that the club had for years advocated four rinks or multiples of four, but he did not think they were likely to get a change. A motion was proposed in favour of four rinks or multiples of four, the club to enter twelve rinks, and this was carried, an ameudment moved in favour of the system as operated last year being defeated by a small majority. The election of officers resulted as fol-lows:-—President, Mr. W. Cathie; vice-pre-sident. Mr. W. H. Fletcher; committee, Messrs. H. L. Brighting, J. M. Bertram, J. Kershaw, H. A. Strange-Muir, E. A.
