The city by-election will be decided on Thursday, tho polling hours being from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thero is one issue only, the selection from four candidates of a councillor to fill the vacancy caused by tho death of Councillor F. Meadowcroft. Voters are required to cross out three names, lqaving untouched the name of the candi-. date whom they wish to support, and in order to reduce the likelihood of ambiguous marking of ballot papers the names have this time been well spaced out. Also, pencils will be placed in. tho polling booths to enable voters to give a clearer marking than can bo given by a broad crayon point.
