SEA BIRDS
(To the Editor.) Sir,—With hundreds of other*, I have been a very interested render of your valued notes' on flora, fa mm, ami bird life of New Zealand, contributed by Mr. Johannes Andersen and others. I am sure 1 havo the support of the native born, at least, when I offer you due appreciation of-the publicity you '66 readily give to these engrossing subjects. The wild bitd life of our harbour appeals to me quite a lot. One question I have never been able to solve. It is why don't seagulls—l use' a general term—multiply in greater numbers than they appear to? They are closely protected, and yet never seem to get out o£ bounds. May be your contributor's could explain.—l am, etc., D.B.
