A neat header by Jessup razed the bar. Nieolle brought Bradford to his knees with a snap shot, later finding the timber with a thirty-yarder, and on the rebound, McGrath -banged wildly past. Hawken: twice tested Greenwefed with promising efforts, the latter almost punching through his own goal. Nieolle, McGrath and G. Stobba were again right on the mark, but Bradford stood between his side and defeat at this stage. Longbottom stemmed a dangerous raid on the Hutt right with A. Stobbs prominent.' while R. Butland nipped in between Shankie and a clear run for goal. Jessup had hard luck with a shot which skimmed the bar. After the best Swifts' movement so far, in which Shankie and Kelly wore in evidence, a stern tussle took place in front of Greciywood., From . this Hawken scrambled the ball over the line to open the scoring for the visitors. From the re-start, Cross sent in a trimmer which Bradford handled expertly, then J.- Butland placed a free a "shade too'high. At the other end, a Kelly shot had the same fate, and half- time arrived with the score, Swifts. 1; Hutt, 0. ■ ■ On the resumption, Bradford.saved likely shots from Nieolle and R. Butland, while further efforts from Cross and Nieolle sailed narrowly over. In give-and-take play, Longbottom stood out for Swifts, with Gardner defending well for Hutt. Glover saw*a promising effort well saved by Greenwood. Batehelor was next prominent -with a series of perfect centres, from one'of which the whole Hutt front rank missed in turn. A good run by Hawken saw Gardner come to the rescue. Bradford held a daisy-cutter from Cross and turned^ a McGrath header for a corner,, but the "ratter nodded in the equaliser seconds late at the call of time, the scores were one all. Extra time was played, and an early goal by Hawken finished the scoring, Swifts, 2;"Hutt, 1.
