PROSPERITY WEEK

DRILL COMPETITION

The drill and' maze marching display and competition among the girls of the, various Government Departments, which have proved entertaining features of the 'Prosperity WeeK programme, were concluded in the Town Hall on Saturday night. Tho movements were excellently performed, and the competing teams were heartily applauded.

At tho conclusion of the display, Sergeant-Major J. Duncan, who had trained tho girls announced, that the Government Life Insurance team had won tho competition, with Defence second and Railway I third. He thanked •'the- judges (Colonel St. J. Beere, Captain B. Sine!, and Captain P. G. Thompson), and congratulated tho girls on their fiuo performances.

The music for tho marches was 'supplied by the Port Nicholson Baud. Later the hall was cleared for dancing, and the evening was extended very happily. _^
