MATCH WON ON THE TOSS

(Received June 24, 10 a.m.) LONDON, June 23. In the semi-final of the lawn tennis championships at Queen's Club, Vines (U.S.A.) defeated Gledhill (U.S.A.), 6-8, 7-5, 6-3. Tho score of Stcefen (U.S.A.) against Sutter (U.S.A.) reached 12-10, 12-12, after which Stoefen won the toss to decide who would play Vines in the final. In tho women's singles semi-final Mrs. Wills-Moody (U.S.A.), defeated Miss V. Rice (U.S.A.), 6-2, 6-i; Mrs. J. B. Pittman (England) defeated. Miss Burke, 6-2, 6-4. In tho semi-finals of the doubles Vines and Gledhill (U.S.A.) defeated Itoh and Mild (Japan), 6-2, C-4; Kirby. and Farquharson (South Africa) defeated Burwcll and Jones (England), 6-4, 7-5.
