MILDER WEATHER

AND FAIR TO FINE

Today's weather forecast promises rather milder weather and fair to fine conditions generally, although there may be some scattered showers in western districts from Taranaki southwards and in far southern districts. Winds north of Kawhia and Napier will be moderate southcrlies. Elsewhere freshening westerlies to north-westerlies may be expected, and these will back later to the south-west. The showery conditions which extended yesterday along the East Coast between Akaroa and East Capo have now given place to more, pleasant con-1 ditions, and the- weather this morning was fine generally «xcept for smne showers about Fovcaux Strait and Cape Egmont. Pressure, is now fairly high over • thj whole Dominion, but there was a slight fall during the night as a small westerly depression passed to the south. -This caused a change of wind direction in and south' of Cook Strait, and the nortlierlies brought about milder temperatures!.- Moderate southerly winds, however,, still prevailed further north: Auckland enjoyed sunny weather yesterday, with a cool southerly wind. The weather in Wellington was mostly dull and misty. There was a light drizzlo at times which amounted in all to one point of iain only. A light southerly wind died down to ,a calm at about 7 p.m. Christclitirch had calm and mostly clou.dy weather yesterday, a drizzling rain, 'amounting to two points, falling in the evening. Fair" and calm weather, with much cloud, prevailed in .Dunedin yesterday.
