ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL.

The first round of Association football matches for the A.uld Memorial Cup will lake placs tomorrow. At the Basin Reserve Diamond and Petone will meet on No. 1 ground, and Mavist and Technical on No. 2 ground. The game between Diamond and Petone will be the first meeting of these two teams this season. Diamond have a fine record in the Auld Memorial competition, having won this handsome trophy ori both occasions it has been played for, and it will take a good team to defeat them. Petoiie are at present leading in the championship, and so far have not been defeated. They are playing football of the highest order and are keen to win this trophy. Marist and Technical will again meet, and as (he last contest between these two teams was very close, the match is sure to be fast and exciting. Two curtain-raisers will be provided by the best lower grade teams. In the event of a. draw in the Cup games, extra time will be played.
