ROYAL SHOW PRIZES
LORD BLEDISLOE'S OFFER
Advice was received by the council of the Royal Agricultural Society of New Zealand yesterday that the Gov-ernor-General, Lord Bledisloe, had offered a challenge cup for Rod Poll cattle, and another for export pigs at the next Royal Show, to be held in Auckland in February, 1934. The suggestion was made by Professor R. E. Alexander (Lincoln College) that the second cup should be given for the best bacon pig. rather than pork. His Excellency had a wonderful knowledge of the type of pig required for the British market, and there was no better judge in New Zealand. He was sure that if his Excellency was asked he would readily cooperate with the secretary of the New Zealand Meat Board in drawing up the necessary specification. It was decided to submit the request to the Governor-General.
