Winooka, the winner of the Doncaslcr Handicap, followed the standard bet by breaking the Australian and New Zea- ( land record for a mile, and in addition is c the first four-year-old1 to cany 9.13 to vie- - tory in this race. Peter Pan gave a splendid exhibition of his galloping ability by a bmait victory in the St. Legei. Bayaere seemed the first victory on behalf, of New Zealand by winning the first division of the Vauehme Handicap in * manner that bespeaks further successes. liesults:— i. Brass Buttons was the early pacemaker from Specimen, ; Prismatic, antl Eatonwood. Passing the stand Stanley's Gift and Prince Carol fell. At the mile jump Brass Buttons and Remission came down, leaving 0 Suntan in charge from Eatonwood, Yarrawln, and Prismatic. Eatonwood led at the final obstacle and reached the judge with a length to spare. Time, 3min 35scc—a world's record. AJTTUMN PLATE, of 1000 soys; weight-for-age; IVj miles. The latter joined tho leaders turning for home, and In the rim m the post Rogilla stalled off a strong challciu-a by Pretzel and Yeilmond, and gained the verdict by a neck. Hull Mark, 8.10 (Duncan) i Maid of Orleans, 8.8 (Skidmorc) a Golden Hair, 8.8 (Knot) 3 Ten started. When tlie field had settled down Leila Vale was in command from Maid of Orleans, Golden Hair, Shakunl, and Hall Mark. Leila Vale was the first to turn for home from Maid of Orleans, Hall Mark, Shakuni, and Limarch. At the distance Hall Mark and Maid of Orleans raced away from tha field, and after a desperate struggle Hall Mark '■ prevailed by a head. Time, lmin 24sec. DONCASTER HANDICAP, of 20 soys each, with 1500 sbvs added; 1 mile. 1 Winooka, 9.13 (Pike) ;.........,..... 1 Jacko, 8.3 (Browne). 2 Parkwood, 8.12 (D. Munro) .. '.. 3 Seventeen started. Tom Pinch was smartest to move from Lucre, Game Carrington, WI3. nooka, Lady Linden, and Dermid. Passing tha half-mile post Tom Pinch had a slight advantage from Lucre, Winooka,: Game Carrington, Jacko, Dermid, and. Cynical. When tho field straightened out for home, Winooka smartly ran to the front and won with easa ,by two lengths. Time.Umln 33%scc—an Australian and New Zealand record.Autopay refused to movo when tho barrier lifted and took no part in the race. The previous best time, fora mile was lmln, 30sec by Pavilion, also at Randwick. Thespian and Karapotl at Ellersllo jointly held th» New Zealand record of lmln 38 3-ssec. A.J.C. ST. Passing « the mile post Orb clipped on the pace, and d was quickly half a furlong ahead of tho field. 0 At the Ualf-mile he appeared likely to steal the race, but Peter Pan, . finishing stoutly, n gradually overhauled him and went on to wia by two lengths.
