HOUSE SURGEONS
RECENT RESIGNATIONS
Referring to the resignation of a house surgeon, the chairman of the Wellington' Hospital Board, Mr. F. Castle, stated at a meeting of the board yesterday that since the medical staff reorganisation it might be that there had been a feeling of disappointment on the i part of some house surgeons at the amount of work available for them.
Major operations were carried out under the supervision of the honorary staff. He was sure the honorary staff would: afford the fullest opportunity to the younger surgeons to carry out the necessary work so long as it was not considered detrimental to the interests of the patients.- The boardj he was sure, looked to the honorary staff to consider the-interests of the patients first; on the other hand, he was convinced/that the position of the house surgeons would not be overlooked .-if they exercised a little patience. :■ ■'■
