■A reception was given last evening by members of the Lyceum Club for Miss Nolle Scanlan, the artistically arranged clubroom. being decorated with largo baskets of golden flowers and foliage. . .■.-.-■
Mrs. C.''J.-'B.:-Norwooa-(president of the club), who received the guests, wore a frock of liazel < brown satin trimmed with lieh fbrown fur.
Miss Scanlan lyoro a "beautiful gown of black p.eaud'augo with lace corsage, with which.she wore a smart little.eapc of black velvet. She was presented by club members with two bouquets. :.'" In a warm speech of welcome Mrs. Norwood spoke of Miss Scanlan»s gift of observance, and her ability to record every-day happenings in a vividly interesting wanner. ; Her published 'letters were always read widely and with real interest. ' •':
Miss_ Scanlan gave an extremely entertaining talk on .European countries and people, taking her listeners upon nn imaginary trip through Norway, Sweden, Holland, ana Bussia. Recitations by Miss Joyce Barker and pianoforte solo's •by • Miss Eileen Clark were enjoyed by those present. A delicious supper was Berved, and a vote of thanks to tho performers concluded a very pleasant evening.
