TIMBER MILLS AWARD
POSITIGN OF DRIVERS
The Arbitration Court yesterday con-
firmed the recommendations of the Con-' ■ cilicfion Council for a new award relat- ,. ing to the Taranaki timber yards and
sawmills.1; I'he Court, however, deleted the provisions affecting the drivers in the tobsence of proof that a majority of the drivers desired to l>e brought under ' the award. , Mr. Justice Frazer, president of the Court, .said that ■ the rules of the Timber Workers' Union were wide enough to include drivers iv town mills, but these drivers in the past had been covered by the motor and horse drivers' award, which had now been cancelled. The Court was of opinion that unless the Timber Workers' Union could be shown to represent the drivers in question, those drivers should not be included in the timber i workers1' award.
