" Meeting in Wellington today, the New Zealand' Dairy " Prpduce Exporters' Association passed a motion .calling the attention of the Government and the. Dairy Board to the grave position at present existing in the British markets, and urging that a meeting of the board should be- held' without delay. The meeting had before it a cablegram from the New Zealand. Dairy Produce Importers'- Association, London, in ■Which it was stated that under existing- conditions the, producer was losing thousands of pounds daily. .The-view was expressed that -it .would be impossible to hold the market or, prevent a further fall unless immediate.action was taken in New Zealand. . ,The New Zealand Dairy Produco .lExporters'-Association had beforo it the following cable from the New Zca- ' land Dairy Produce Iniporteis' Association, London:—' At _a meeting of Importers' Association the consensus of opinion is • that it is impossible to hold markets . or even prevent further fait in prieos unless something is done immediately ' by further action from your side. • U-nder- existing conditions the producer is losing thousands daily which must" continue. Delayed action means , further accumulation of stocks'.with' -an estimated surplus', of forty-two thousand tons by- end of July. ■ After a full discussion of the above cablegram the. Exporters' Association jesolved:— . . * "That" this-association calls the at- ( -tention' of the Government and Dairy "Board to the grave position at present 'existing in the British markets, caused, 'through the uncertainty as to tho "policy 'to be adopted in the matter ,of restrictions or. regulation of shipments, and N ' strongly urges that'a meeting of tho •Dairy Board.' be . heltf., without delay. Although the board decide! at its last •'meeting " against restrictio is. the .fur- ' -ther serious decline in prices. warrants - an immediate review of the whole position ! and' an. attempt-to find some - 'Solution." ■ ' The-New Zealand Dairy Produce lin- ' carters', Association above referred, to .was.founded in 1923, and its members include " the .following firms:. —The 'Anglo-Continental Produce Co., Ltd., ■■'Armour and Co., Bannatyno and Co., G..-Bowies, NJcholls and Co., Andrew ,Clement and Sons, Collett, Whitefield ; and' Co.; B. and W. David^spn, Foley Bros., J. Gillanders, Lovelt and Christ- ' mas, Henry A. Lane and Co., J. and J. ■ .Lonsdale .and Co., A. J. Mills and Co., Macpherson, Train and Co., N.Z. Loan .and Mercantile Agency, Co., N.Z. Produce Association, Samuel Pago and ,-Son,,A. C. Howson, Salter and Stokes, - Trengr.ouse: and Nathan, Wright, Stephenson and Co., C. Wilson-Sears, W. TVeddell and Co., and Whiteley Muir and Zwanenberg. These companies and firms are all engaged in tho handling of New Zealand butter and cheese in- the United Kingdom. -
