A fairly intense anticyclone' now covers the whole of the New Zealand area. During the past 24 hours the weather has been fair to fine and cool in most parts, a few Isolated showers only haying fallen In the far north., and south. South-easterly or southerly winds predominated yesterday, and were strong In force along the east coast and in North Auckland, but' elsewhere mainly moderate. By this morning, however, except in the far north, winds had nearly everywhere decreased, arid in the South Island directions had become more^varlable.
