AMERICA AND BRITAIN
DISCUSSION OF WAR DEBT,.
ECONOMIC CONFERENCE
NE"W YOEE, March. 27.
The Washington correspondent of the "New York Times" states that conversations between the Secretary of State, Mr. C. Hull, and the British Ambassador, Sir Ronald Lindsay, were continued today under circumstances indicating that London has; deferred to the wishes of Washington, and is now prepared to explore economic.questions on the basis of the agenda proposed for the "World Monetary and Economic Conference.
There was no mention of war debts, but no indication that Britain had relinquished hopes of a debt adjustment. It is understood that London is greatly concerned at. the steady approach of. June 15, when 75 million dollars will be due, and at an appropriate time trill advance a plan embodying the Lausanne agreements and. the Balfour Xote, both of which would imply a deshe for a great reduction if not cancellation.'
