PALMERSTON N., This Day.
In,view of the approach of the municipal elections, a large and representativs deputation of citizens waited upon the Mayor,- Mr. A. E. ord, yesterday requesting that he allow himself to be renominated. Speakers paid tribute to the excellent services he had rendered tho city, " particularly his efforts on behalf :of the unemployed. Mr. Mansford consented to-nomination for a further term. : " •
Of the. present council, Councillors H. B. Free, J. Hodgens, G. Tremaine, R. L. C; Aitchis#n, and W. B. Cameron will contest seats. Councillor W. H. Brown is at present undecided owing to business reasons. Councillors W. L. Fitzherbert, G. C. Keeble, and J. McLeod have .decided to'retire: The firstnamed, however, will contest- his seat on the Wellington Harbour Board. -
It is understood that Labour intends nominating a'full ticket of-nine. .The Citizens' Committee intends to do the same. ",. . •..,"--.■ v: ;■ ■
