MR. L. C. H. PALAIRET, whose death in England is announced. The late Mr. Palairet was a brother of the co-manager, of the M.C.C. team now visiting New, Zealand. This photograph was taken when Lionel Palairet ranked as one of the best batsmen in English cricket.

Wellington Harbour Board Photo. CAPSIZED AT THE RAILWAY WHARF.—During the next day or two the hulk Coromandel will be towed out to sea and sunk. In May, 1896, the Coromandel, then a barque, capsized at the Railway Wharf, Wellington, and despite many attempts to raise her, remained in the position shown in the photograph for two years and three months. She was finally righted by Mr. Thomas Carmichael, of Wellington.
