CORBIN WINS WELL.

The star bout of the evening was that, between Bob Coiighlan (0.0), of Palinerston North, and Tommy Corbin (9.4). The boys went six rounds at a fair pace, and Corbin scored a clear-cut win. The first round was fairly quiet, but they brightened up in the second, and both swung some heavy blows- in several even exchanges. Corbin was going well, using both hands smartly, and repeatedly beating his opponent to the punch. Coughlan kept trying with left swings and hooks, but missed far more ofteu than lie got home, and he had more success the few times he did bring his right up underneath to the body. Speeding up in the fifth round, Coughlan scored with some hard swings, but Corbin came back in the last, and took a well-earned decision. For every one of Coughlan's punches Corbin landed several.

G. O'Halloran (lO.u) made short work of L. Harrop (10.7), scoring a technical knock-out in the first of a scheduled fourroiiml contest.

Tho efforts of J. Murphy (11.0) were of little avail against the cool and collected B. Reid (11.3). When Murphy rushed in, Pieid picked him off with snappy straight punches, and although Murphy once or twice tried some strategy in the form of turning his back on his opponent and thon suddenly coming back with a wild swing, it did not help him in any way. Reid was too clever, and was a good winner. , .-
