ASLEEP IN A LORRY

ATTEMPTED BREAKING AND

ENTERING

Gordon Kenneth Watson, a mechanic, aged 18, pleatled guilty before Mr.' E. Page, S.M., at the Magistrate's Court today to, a charge of attempting to break and enter the premises of the Stewart Hardware Company with intent to commit theft.

.Tho evidence showed that the accused was found 'asleep in a lorry at 2.5 a.m. on March 10 at 'the rear of the Stewart Hardware Company's ■ premises, lie said he had missed his train to Trentham and was having a sleep. In the accused's possession a constable found a bag containing a ch.rscl, a spanner, a screwdriver, a file, keys, gloves, two coils of rope, and other articles.

Sergeant G. Pain said that the accused had made a statement in which ho admitted that he had tried to open the lock of a, back door of the Stewart Hardware Company's premises with keys and a piece of wire. While ho was working at tho lock rain camo on and he climbed into the cab of the lorry for shelter. Ho fell asleep and was later awakened by the constable. The accused admitted that he had brought the articles, in the bag from his home at Trentham for tho purpose of breaking and entering the promises. The accused was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. Bail was renewed.

Ramsey Wilson and Co., auctioneers, will hold an auction sale of oak furniture and effects at their mart, 98 Manners Street, at 1.30 p.m. tomorrow.
