The Karori Club completed Its competition for the "Willoughby- Cup" at-Trcntham1 on Saturday afternoon.. ..This competition is1 flred-under service conditions, In two. stages, the first stage comprising the service matches »Li fhl, NatlOnal, R' fle programme, and -the .-second »t« E e the musketry course laid down by the defence regulations. T. H. R. Boon, who led over the first staze maintained his position and won by five points trom.n. Porter. Boon has won this competition on a number of previous occasions and his win on Saturday was not unexpected! His repeated successes in service . matches stamp him as the "club's best service shot/The runner-up—R. Porter—shot well in • the competition. . He is a young marksman who 6hows considerable promise. '
The following are the. highest scores'in the competition:—!. H. It. Boon, 214; R. Ported 209; B. fyJckel, 205; H. Field, 204 -: P b' Goldfinch, 197.
The highest score in the. second stage was made by P.. B. Goldfinch,' with 124 out of a possible of 140. , ■
Visitors to the club on Saturday Included Dr. R.,F. . Aitkcn .and Messrs. Pratn, D. Crombio, and C. Langbein,' who are prominently associated with the Titahl Golf Club. Another visitor was Mr. W. Fleming. Messrs. Langbein and "Eleming ■ both shot well, the former's effort In particular exciting much favourable comment.
The following are Saturday's scores, the several parts of the match being indicated as follows: (A) grouping, (B) application at 200 yards. (C) rapid firing, (D) snap shooting, (E) application at 300 yards:—
