at Oamaru last week. He' showed good pace while his condition lasted, and he will be seen to more advantage in the hurdle races later on. '
■ Kamal Pasha made some amends for his expensive first-day unplaced effort at Oamaru by failing only by a head to get to Shock in the Windsor Hack Handicap on Saturday. He was not too quick in finding hia feet, and, as he finished fourth on Thursday, his performances are worth remembering.
Shock, winner of the Windsor Hack Handicap at Oamaru on Saturday, was bred b'y Mr. V. Riddiford. She is a three-year-old filly by Shambles from the imported Blink mare Glimpse, the dam also of Peep, and she is owned by Mr. R. R. McDonald, who bought her' as-a' yearling at the Trentham sales for 20 guineas. Hurlingham's win in the hack fix on the first day at Oamaru last week and hie second to Fair Weather in the open six on Saturday, were two excellent efforts that should serve to keep him in the public's eye. They were his first races after a spell since January, and they make him look like being/ a better horse than ever, with prospects of winning good open races before the season ends.
Bivaganbil, one o£ the most famous oldtimc studs of Australia, is to be dispersed in consequence of the death of Mr. H. C. Rouse. The stud, comprising many marcs of high lineage, and the young sire Brazen, many of whose, progeny have raced with distinction, may he. expected to give rise to very spirited bidding.
