LODGE MEETINGS

Island Bay Lodge of Druids held a largely-attended meeeting, which was presided over by Arch Druid Bro. Norman h. Riggs. Grand Lodge was represented by the district president, Bro. J. Tobin and seven past presidents, Bros. J. Gauntlet, J. Middleton, J. Crewes, F. Lyall W. Jennings, H. J. Austin, and F. Barley. A large number of brothers were also present from Druid Lodges in the district. Bro. Tobin conducted, the ceremony of installing Bro. J. F. Kuch as president of No. 21 District, Bro. A. Smith assisting as M.C. On assuming the chair Bro. Kuch tendered his thanks to the lodges for the honour conferred upon him, after which,, on behalf of No., 21 District, he presented Bro. Tobin with the diploma and collar of a past, president. At the conclusion of the meeting a ban-quet-was tendered to visiting brethren. Toasts were proposed as follows:—"Grand Lodge,",by" Bro. T. A. Mollison; "The District President," by Bro. J. Crewes; "The Betiring District President," by Bro. S. L. Hall; and "The Visitors," by Bro. A. Smith. Musical items were given by an orchestra conducted by Bro. C. J. Sherwood, and songs by Bro. H. Smith, F. Kuch, A. J. Edmonds, and Roworth. .The usual meeting of Onslow Lodge, No. 128, 1.0.0.F., N.Z., was held recently, Bro. Thompson (N.G.), presiding, over a good attendance. The Degree Master (Bro. Mathers) arid suite, accompanied by *J»e DJXG.M. (Bro. G.- Rudkin, P.G., ■ ffl' prand Lodge representative) paid an official visit and advanced, by special dispensation, two brothers in the degrees of Friendship, Love, and Truth. Later a pleasing ceremony took place in the presentation of a gift to Bro. L. Burney, P-G-. on the occasion of his.departure to Hawera, in commemoration of his valned services to the lodge. The 882nd meeting of Victoria Rebekah Lodge, No. 2, was held in the Masonic Hall. N.G. Sis. D. Kempton presided over a meeting of thirty-five members and sixty-seven visitors. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed and correspondence was received. Official yimts were received from Eahiri, Rose of Wellington, Star of Petone, and O'Kiwij -Lwo sisters were obligated into the order, the initiation to be completed at nest meeting. The junior ritual competition was held at Victoria, Sister Craig, °£ Star o£ petone, being the successful accorded to the judges, Bro. Major and Bro. Evans.
