NELSON, March 27. The leading teams in the local senior cricket championship, Athletic and Wakatu, commenced a match on Saturday R. Jhf fi , J inni ?S the toss,' elected to take the field, owing to a shortage or players. Wakatu were also s]lort) and for their eight available wickets made 167 runs, of whjch C. Kinzett scored 52, T. Searell 59, and A. Jones 19 not out. L. Vasta took four wickets for 31 runs, D. Cooper two for 18. , Athletic replied with 39 runs /or three wickets (A. McKellar, not out, 18, J. Ralfe, not, out, 10). The other senior match was between Colts and Lollege, the former scoring 122 runs Gray 26, Mitchell 20). McGirr took two wickets for 18 runs, Ralfo three for 43,. and Mitchell four for 31. College in tiieir first innings have lost one wicket -"^l 9- 1 rllns (Karsten, not out, 57). . While cruising near the lighthouse on Saturday afternoon, the yacht Queen Mab capsized.
