BETTER DRAPERY DIVIDENDS.
David Jones, Ltd., the big Sydney drapery house, has declared an interim halfyearly dividend of 3 per cent, on ordinary shares, and both issues of preference shares. The interim ordinary dividend last year was 2 per cent, and final dividend 3 per cent., making 5 per cent, for the year." ' As . the ordinary dividend is at the rate of 6 per cent, per annum, the first and second preference shares, which had been subject to the' statutory deduction under the Interest Reduction Act, participate in the same rate as the ordinary shares. The first preference thus receives its original rate of 6 per cent, per annum, and the second preference rate, originally 7% per cent., is increased from £5 16s 3d per cent, per annum.
