MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Cases at the Magistrate's Court were dealt with today by Mr. E. Page, S.M.
Jack Harry Payne, a labourer, aged 26, was remanded until April 4 on a charge of breaking and entering the house of Constance Norn's at 49 Mantcll Street, Seatoun, and stealing fruit and cigarettes valued at Is.
For his second statutory offence of drun.kenness Martin Carr, a labourer, aged 31, was fined 10s, in default 48 hours' imprisonment.
A sentence of six months' imprisonment was imposed on Percy Butler (alias Clancy), a labourer, aged 61, who pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing money and articles valued at £3 103, the property of Charles L. Lumley.
According to Detective-Sergeant Revell, the accused called at Mr. Lumley's house at Dixou Street for the purpose of "cadging."' Mr. Lumley was not at home, but the accused found the back door open. He stole a handbag containing money, am) other articles, from a bench just inside the door.
