SYNOPSIS OF LAST 48 HOURS. During the weekend the meteorological situation was dominated by an anti-cyclone, arid the weather was mainly fair on both Saturday, and Sunday a few isolated showers only having fallen in the South Island. The winds were light to-moderate and variable.. Since last night, however, a shallow depression has ad-, vanced on to the Dominion, and winds betweeii north and west hare freshened in and south of Cook Strait and have been accompanied by; rain in the western aud far southern district* of the South Island. . '
