RELIEF EFFORTS
WELLINGTON SOUTH
A clothes drive was undertaken in Wellington South on Saturday afternoon under the auspices of the Ncwtown Interchurch Committee of the Mayor's Belief Fund, with gratifying results. The area bounded north and south by the John Street intersection and Waripori Street and east and'west by Tasman Street and the Town Belt was fairly well covered. • .The result was the collection, of 150 parcels of clothes ana boots, for the most part in a serviceable condition.
The collectors, who were assisted by a willing band of boy scouts, reported that in many instances people called upon were not aware of the drive, and had not prepared parcels, though they would Jiave liked to contribute to meet the demands of the oncoming winter months.
If those who wish to assist telephone tho Eev. W. E. Milne, No. 24-413, means of collection will be found for parcels of clothing,, boots, and household utensils.
The committee wishes to thank the owners of cars, who assisted the boy scouts, the helpers, and others who contributed to the success of the effort. They also wish to remind people in suburban or country districts that they would be glad to receive anything in the way of old clothes, boots, or foodstuffs for the relief of the sorely digtressed of the district.
