Imports of timber during the month of February included the following:—Australia, £3074; Canada, ' £691; Sweden (butter boxes), £2421; Japan (oak), £805----.United States (redwood), £822; other countries, '£133. ". "
Total exports of timber for the month were as follows:—Australia—Kauri £77, rirau £1121, white pine. £6859, beech £420, white pine in log £297-; Pacific Islands—Kauri £93, timber for cases £470.

TENDERS FOR CONVERSION

RUGBY, March 25.
The result of tenders received yesterday for the first issue of new 2% per cent, conversion loan is regarded as entirely satisfactory.
The average price received from' the loan was £94 11s 9.19 d. .
"The Times" City Editor regards the fact that the gilt-edged market was quieter yesterday and that a certain amount of natural profit-taking took place as healthy liquidation.
Business on the London Stock Exchange was dull this morning, security prices remaining but little altered in most departments.
British funds were slightly firmer, with War Loan 3% per cent, at £101 Is 3d. ■The dollar sterling exchange rate is 3.42% dollars.
