The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated March 20. from the High Commissioner for .New Zealand, London:— Tallow: Market continues quiet with values nominally unchanged. Hemp: Manila—Market quiet and slightly easier at the close. March-May shipment value £14 10s. Sisal—Closed easier. No. 1 for March-May shipment £15- No 2, £14 10s. New Zealand—Market dull with buyers apathetic. Values nominally unchanged. No first-hand sales reported.
It costs in' England between £3000 and £4000 to cover an acre of land with glass for growing tomatoes and other hothouse produce. . Each acre so used provides employment for. six men.
A bacon curing chamber, several hundred years old, was discovered during a fire at Southwood Manor Farm. Hersham, Surrey.
