GARDEN FETE
LOWER HUTT FUNCTION
Success in every way attended the garden party held at the Catfeolie School, Knights Koad, Lower Hutt, on Saturday afternoon. The spacious grounds provided an ideal setting for the displays given by the children, who had been trained by the Sisters. An exhibition of drill, an intricate formation march, by the senior boys and girls began the programme, and then followed a gipsy dance, an Irish folk dance, and dancing and singing by The little ones. 'Bright-.costumes added to the effect1 of the items.
Miss P. Connelly and Miss Mcllroy played the piano, and the afternoon was enlivened by selections by the Hutt Municipal Band. The tea was in the,' charge of Mrs. O'Shea and the ladies of the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
The stall-holders were Mrs. 3Sf. O'Shea, Mrs. Fuller, Mrs. P. McGrath, Mrs. Guthrie, Misses Patton, Messrs, P. Evans, P. Taylor, C. Lansdowne, P. Kempton, D. Barry, and Pat Scullin. The sideshows and gates were in charge of a party of men, among whom were Messrs. C. Crook, T. Pearce, T. McKillop, Griffen, McManus, Brown, McGrath, and Fawcett.
