N.Z. BUTTER
COST OF DELAY
TO NEW ZEALAND DAIRYMEN
TOOLEY STREET ESTIMATE

LONDON, March 25.
Strong representations are being made to the authorities to hasten butter restrictions before the market is made chaotic.
The trade ridicules the New Zealand hope- of an outlet in Germany, where all ports are closed to butter to the end of next November. It is emphasised that the Continent is already accelerating delivery to Britain and that it will take months to clear the accumulations. • If the decision is delayed till May, Tooley Street estimates that the delay will cost New Zealand dairymen £50,000 a week.
It is believed that had quotas been introduced Dominion butter would now have been between 90s and 100s a cwt. Instead the delay has depressed the price to 80s.
