REPAIRS TO SCHOONER
The Nobel, auxiliary schooner Huia, which is undergoing her annual overhaul and survey at Auckland, is being fitted-with-a.new keelson of Australian ironbark, states the Auckland "Star." The new keelson will replace- one of kauri, which has been in the vessel since she was built thirty-nine years ago. The timber being uaed includes one piece 12 inches square and IJO feet inlength> and as it is too long to be lowered into position through the hatchway^ a, hole has beer,, cut througli the bow near the water-line. "The vessel's hull, rigging, and engines are being thoroughly overhauled and topairs. are being carried out where necessary. The work is expected" to a ccupy another three weeks. The part of',-a puriri frame in the hull removed was in as good condition as when the vessel...was built at Arat'apu in 1894.
