Like all of us, tho Duchess of York thoroughly- enjoys •a- shopping afternoon, and she always makes her purchases Without the least suspicion of "fussiness" (states an exchange). The other day the Duchess went in quest ofhousehold lincu for the Royal Lodge at Windsor, For each, of the bedrooms the Duchess chose tinted sheets, pillow; cases, and towels to match the colour scheme, just bordered with white. As the_ modernistic sycamore table in the dining-room has a labour-saving glass top, the Duchess decided to have it laid with pale green linen mats. For afternoon tea in her pretty rose draw-ing-room • tho Duchess selected some hand-drawn cloths, edged with narrow pink lace. Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret were not forgotten, either. The Duchess bought them two jolly tablecloths, one with scarletcoated soldiers marching 1 round': the edge, the other patterned with dancing fairies.
