SYNOPSIS OF LAST^24 HOURS.

The depression responsible for yesterday's strong north-westerly winds lias practically filled up, and since last night barometers have risen over the Dominion. A very slight low centre, however, was located this morning over South Westland. Unsettled conditions with rain have prevailed in the west coast and far southern districts of the South Island, and this morning it was raining also at Timaru and Oamaru. Elsewhere the weather has been mostly fair,to fine and mild. In the eastern provinces yesterday very warm temperatures accompanied the north-west winds, but by this morning winds had become more variable over the Dominion.
