BODY-LINE BOWLING
CHORUS OF COUNTIES
STRONG DISAPPROVAL
(Beeeived March 23, 10 a.m.)
London, March 22.
According to the "Daily Mirror," first-class counties are taking concerted action against body-line bowling in the form of a recommendation to the Advisory* Committee that "body-line bowling not being in the best interests of tho. game be ruled illegitimate." The paper says that there' has been such a chorus of disapproval that the Marylebono Cricket Club "is-certain to do something. • The county authorities realise that the baneful body-line, business on the top of dreary, defensive batting will kill interest in cricket. More than one famous batsman has declared that he would loss his wicket, rather than risk injury. Secretaries are worried over the decreasing receipts and wondering what will happen when Larwood and Voce adopt the body-lino method against Hobbs and Jardine at,tho Oval.
