THE NELSON SEASON

(Special to "The Evening Post.")

NELSON, March 22.

The loading of 30jO00 cases of fruit on the Mamari for Dunkirk is* expected to be completed by tomorrow. The Matangi took another 5000 cases to Wellington this evening and the Taupata will load 6000 cases at Mapua for the same port. These two shipments will complete the Matakana's Nelson consignment of 14,000 cases for West of England ports.

There has boen practically no prcqooling at Wellington this season, consignments from the Nelson district having in most case's beeu put direct on the Home boats.

The fruit exported from Nelson up to tho end of last week amounted to 375,000 cases, against. 350,000 cases for the corresponding period last year. Up to the-present time this season the quantity of export fruit handled has been twice as much as that for the corresponding.period-of tho .1930 season,* when the total quantity exported was 780,000 eases.

The Karamea is the next overseas vessel to call at Nelson, being, duo on March 29 to load 34,000 cases for Wc^t of England ports. . The Port Fremantle is due in the middle of April to load frozen meat, and will probably also take a quantity of fruit.
