PIONEER CLUB

VISITORS ENTERTAINED

I An informal and very pleasant reception was given yesterday afternoon at the Pioneer Club to Mr. and Mrs. John Brownlee and their company by the Pioneer Club members and the Association of Wellington , Music Teachers. There were a number of musical people present, and all were introduced to the visitors, who were met by Miss Kane (president of the club). Mrs. Brownlee wore a smart frock of patterned crepe and a wide-brimmed black hat with a white band, and a black fox fur. Miss Bita Miller was in a reseda green ensemble and hat, and both guests were presented with shoulder sprays of flowers. Mr. Brownlee, Mr. Kayniond Lambert, and Mr. Brownlee's manager received buttonholes. Miss Kane was in a navy and white georgetto costume and' a navy hat.

Mr. Temple White expressed ' the welcome of the musicians to Mr. and Mrs. Brownlee, the former, replying in humorous vein. He was most appreciative of the kindness shown them in New Zealand, and expressed surprise at the scenic beauty of Wellington and the district surrounding it. The club rooms were attractively decorated with flowers i v golden browns and yellows, marigolds predominating. Tea was served, and a most enjoyable afternoon spent.
