It has been announced by the Sydney Stock . Exchange that a new Companies Bill of a comprehensive character is being prepared; and will be brought forward during the next session of the Xew South Wales Parliament. The existing legislation is a consolidation of measures going back' to 1840: Though amendments have been made from time to time, the statu-' tory provisions on the whole are regarded 'by both legal! and commercial interests as being. hopelessly out of date. The proposed new legislation ■is expected to follow, closely on recent English and Queensland enactments, and, on becoming effective, should furnish much-needed protection, to'investbrs. . .
