INTERPROVINCLAL RACE
I Arrangements for the interprovincial oigllt-oai- lowing championship to be rowed on Wellington Harbour c-a April 1 are noaring completion, and the interest of rowers throughout the Dominion is centred on. thp- crews that .will represent their provinces in what promises to bo onoof the greatest rowing events in the history of the sport in tho country. Clews are being entered from Auckland, Wellington, Canterbury, Marlborough, ■\Vanganui, and Otago. There ia a possibility that onewill also bo entered by Southland. ' Tho public ' should havo a, unique opportunity this year to witness "the raco over tho whole of the courso as arrangements havo-been made with' tho Eailway Department to havo a special train consisting of forty carriages and two engines follow tho race, which is to bo rowed on tho Hutt Road foreshove, from start to finish.
The train will leave Wellington at 2.30 p.m. for Petonc, where passengers from tho Hutt Valley will bo picked up. Tho train will then return past Ngahauranga to tho starting point of tho throe-milo courso and follow the race, which commences at 3.30 p.m. . At tho conclusion of an intorclub eight contest, which starts at 4.15 p.m., a raco between eight-oar crews roprcsohting tho North and South Islands will bo rowed. This" will bo tho first inter-island eight-oar contest that has ever been rowed, and for that reason alone will bo of considerable interest
