TAUMARUXUI, This Day

The Main Trunk line is still blocked, but the Department is maintaining a good emergency service. A train got through at nine o 'clock last night from the south and left again at 10 p.m. for the north. At Okahukura the engine was taken off and the carriages were pushed slowly across the subsidence. Another engine was waiting at the other side to take the train on. It will be sorno time yet before it will be safe for engines to cross the subsidence.

The usual goocls train left Taumarujiui at eight o'clock this morning, and the usual 6.30 a.m. goods train arrived at Tauniarunui. The express arrived here from Auckland at 2 o'clock this morning and left at 5 o'clock to transfer passengers to the waiting train at the slip between Piriaka ami Manunui.

Another -subsidence a mile nortli of Kakahi'was reported this morning, necessitating passengers walking two and a half miles from the Piriaka slip to the new slip.

A train arrived at 11 o'clock this morning from the south and left again for the north soon after.

Tho torrential rain of Tuesday night has done a great deal of damage to the-new Taumarunui-Stratford line between Okahukura and Matierc, and it is estimated that it will be three weeks before the lino can be repaired. A report from Matiere states that half a mile of line formation has gone between Matiere and the Okahukura tunnel, requiring three weeks to repair. Much damage has been, done to the lino also on the Okahukura side of the'tunnel, and it will take at least a week to repair. Prom Matiere to Stratford the line is clear.

The • electric power is on again in Taumarunui today, and the water Supply, which was ofC yesterday, has bow been resumed.
