INCIDENT IN THE HOUSE
Considerable amusement was caused in the House of Representatives this afternoon when Mr. R. A. Wright (Government, Wellington Suburbs) asked for four days' leave of absence for Mr. W. A. Veitch (Government, Wanganui), on the ground of illness in the family. Mr. Wright's request was greeted with amused interest. - "Are you the leader of the new party?" asked a Labour member. Mr. W. E. Parry (Labour, Auckland Central): Have you been chastised, too? The leave was granted. It is customary for the Chief Government Whip (Mr. R. J. Murdoch) to ask for leave of absence for members of the Government Party.
