SMALLER "TOTE" UNITS
(From "Vedette.") SYDNEY, February 10. Meeting the times, the Wednesday race clubs have introduced the 5s totalisator in the paddock. It was tried this week at Rosebery, and practically as much money was invested as at the higher rate of 10s. The small decrease was accounted for by two small fields in ■ which there were only two dividends. The Limond—Anklet colt, Garter Knight, who was seriously injured on his way to Sydney with-Admiral Drake, is still an inmate of % a veterinary hospital at Randwick. His owner, Mr. J. M. Samson, has been advised that as a racing proposition he is a hopeless case.. i .. vel; _ smart two-year-old won at Rose- , hill on Saturday in Emily Rose, by Earn-' ipion from Whitta. She raced in the .spring, in the Gimcrack Stakes, and Saturday saw her second appearance. She may : touch top-class, for on, Saturday, from No. 19 at the barrier, she was in front in a few strides, and wo:i pulling up. Forestry ran a very fair race at Eosehill in a nine-furlong welter. At the turn he was a possibility, but weakened, in the run ■■■."-'. .... .. _ ..' -. The Sutala mare, Greenaway, carried, on her winning way at Rosebery 'this week, scoring under 8.11 in a six and a half furlongs, race. For no apparent ■ reason she was "ordered, to the outside early, and | was joined' by two;real offenders in Fast Cure and another New Zealander, Ephialtes. -• She was smartly away, and with Ephialtes led to.the turn. There Ephialtes weakened, and:the mare, ridden out, just, won,', : She wis given 7.12 in the Newmarket Handicap this week, but on to-' day's showing would hardly shine among; the cream of: the sprinters, although she is extra smart at-the suburban Sydney meeting's; "' r'. - .
