IMPOST ON FISHERMEN
(By Telegraph.) (Special to •'The Evening Post."J DUNEDIN, 'February 15. Allowing for 6d a gallon rebate, fish-, ermen are now paying 7d a gallon Buty, on petrol used in their launches. Tho increased taxation is a great burden pa them. The following .statement of the position of fishermen was issued .today, by the Otago Motor^ Club:-^"The_ total r duty on petrol is 12.454 a gallon. PreI vious to 1932 6d a gallon duty- to 'the Highways Fund was. rebated to "fishermen, commercial users, far_ners\usiug tractors, and -other users, "of "petrol for use oh other than, road vehicles."-'" in 1932 further taxation of '2d„a- gallon iduty, plus .4d „a gallon primage, was JBiposed and was'credited "to .the Consolidated .Fund. The latest, tax of Sd^iugallon, plus".lsd primage, together* with, the additional exchange, which means'7_9od a gallon, are all credited tofthe.^ Consolidated Fund.
