INDIA'S GOLD RESERVE
FURTHER STRENGTHENING

EUGBY, February -13; The Secretary for India, Sir Samuel Hoare, .answering a Parliamentary question, stated that at the end'of Jannary the gold held in India's gold standard and paper", currency reserves amounted to about £33,250,000 valued at par, in addition to a sterling holding of £25,750,000. A further strengthening:,of the reserves, was an accepted object of policy, bnt the precise steps to be taken to that end must depend on circumstances.' In the past twelve months the reserves had been strengthened by £15,500,000.
