MAULED BY TIGER
(Received February 15, 3 p.m.) ' -~ CALCUTTA, February 14. - Sergeant Adams, of the Calcutta Police, was severely mauled by a tiger, and his condition is critical. He accompanied Sir John Anderson, Governor of Bengal, on a tiger hunt at Jalpaignri. A tiger was sighted, shot, and wounded. It leapt at the elephant on which Adams was seated. This startled the animal, which threw Adams, who fell on the tiger, which savagely attacked him before it was dispatched by a wellaimed shot.
