THE FOURTH TEST

AUSTRALIA'S INNINGS

TODAY'S PLAY

United, Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received February 15, 3 p.m.) x BRISBANE, This Day. For the fifth day of the cricket Test, England v. Australia, the weather is humid but cooler than on the previous days. There is a likelihood of a storm, which has been predicted. The Wicket is wearing surprisingly well, but is expected to play tricks during the afternoon. An hour before starting time five thousand people had assembled at the ground, with a big increase likely in the event of an early partnership proving prolific. McCabe (14) and Darling (8) were at the wickets when stumps were drawn yesterday, and Australia's, score was 108 for four wickets, England having gained a lead of 16 runs on the first innings. The fifth-wicket partners made a promising beginning of the day's play and during the first half-hour they gave the score a tidy lift by putting on over 25 runs. Soon afterwards, however, the partnership was broken—l3B for five wickets. After an hour's play today Australia's score was 155 for five wickets.
